This course is currently a pre-requisite for providing person-centred support in community and/or residential settings. In this course you learn to use discretion and judgement for those seeking assistance due to old age, disability, or some other reason. This course provides a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge; alongside theoretical concepts and practices that underpin individual support.
In order to complete the course you will need to study 7 Core Units and 6 Electives. As part of the course assessment, you’ll need to attend vocational work placement for a total of 120 hours in a regulated aged care or disability centre. Before you undertake any clinical placements in Aged Care Facilities you will be required to undertake a Police check for Ageing & Disability streams.
